Employee name: Vikki Byrne
Employee job title: Executive Creative Director
Length of time with OSP: 16 years.
What does your job entail?
As co-owner and Executive Creative Director of OSP, my role blends leadership, strategy, hands-on creativity, technical feasibility, and industry innovation. I help shape the vision, culture, and direction of the business while ensuring our creative work is high quality, original, and strategically aligned to exceed client objectives.
I stay actively involved in design, branding, and animation, allowing me to lead with firsthand insight into the challenges our team faces. I also oversee technical and project feasibility scoping, ensuring creative concepts are achievable within timeframes, budgets, and constraints. This involves collaborating with developers, production teams, and external partners to balance innovation with practical execution.
To keep OSP ahead, I track industry trends, from emerging design styles to technologies like AI, automation, and interactive media. Through continuous learning, networking, and industry events, I integrate cutting-edge tools into our workflows, ensuring our creative solutions remain innovative, relevant, and effective.
What do you like most about your job?
What I love most about my job is the variation—no two days are the same. One day, I might be conceptualising a campaign, the next, designing exhibition booth layouts and engagement activities for a congress, or creating a video for an internal conference. Working across multiple platforms keeps both my creative and technical skills sharp, constantly challenging me to think in new ways.
I also enjoy working across multiple client accounts, as it gives me the opportunity to speak to different people and hear diverse perspectives on topics. These fresh insights help shape more creative and effective solutions.
I'm a big ideas person, always thinking about the broader vision and creative possibilities, but I know that execution is just as important as the concept. I’m lucky to have a dedicated and talented team who bring those ideas to life, focusing on the fine details that make all the difference. Seeing their hard work come together—when strategy, creativity, and execution align—is incredibly rewarding.
But what gives me the biggest buzz? Hearing positive client testimonials. Knowing that our work has made a real difference and exceeded expectations is what drives me. I’m proud of the team we’ve built and the work we deliver together.
Favourite work memory?
It’s hard to pick just one favourite work memory because there have been so many!
One that stands out is the first time I visited a booth 15 years ago, seeing the ideas we’d spent nine months developing finally come to life. After all that time working on sketches, layouts, and endless revisions, standing in the middle of the finished space was surreal—and thankfully, everything was standing too!
I also love the buzz of winning big pitches—after putting in hundreds of hours of effort, there’s nothing better than knowing the client shares your vision (and that all those late nights were worth it).
And of course, there are the team days out—like when we absolutely smashed the escape room time, proving that our problem-solving skills aren’t just for client projects!
If I wasn't so good at my job, I would be...
If I wasn’t so good at my job, I’d probably be a magician—because I’ve always loved the idea of creating a sense of wonder and surprise. Or maybe a comedian… but only if I could skip the whole public speaking part! I think it’s good to push yourself out of your comfort zone, but I can never remember jokes.
Realistically though, with how involved I get in medical marketing, I sometimes think I could have ended up as a doctor—but let’s face it, 18-year-old me wasn’t ready for medical school!
Hobbies
I love picking up new hobbies, though I tend to chop and change fairly regularly. In the last year alone, I’ve tried knitting, crochet, weightlifting, and now I’m onto Pickleball! I also dedicate a lot of my free time to friends and family, but I’m always learning something new—whether it’s a creative skill or exploring what’s possible with AI.
A fun fact—up until two years ago, I could do the splits (still not sure how I lost that skill!). I also played the saxophone and piano and keep telling myself I’ll pick them up again… but sadly, I haven’t quite committed to that yet!
